JOEL ORTA, ESQ.
Joel Orta is an attorney born and raised in the capital city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended middle school and high school at Colegio San Antonio. He earned his bachelor’s degree with a concentration in political science from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. He later completed his Juris Doctor degree at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
Throughout his life, Mr. Orta has excelled in the field of sports. He represented and won medals for his school and the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, as a track and field athlete. At the same time, from the age of eight, he practiced bowling, becoming a member of his native country’s National Youth and Adult Bowling Teams. During his career as a bowler from 2003 to 2010, he won gold, silver, and bronze medals in various championships, including Central American, Pan American, and World Championships.
Thanks to his talent and discipline as a high-level bowler, Mr. Orta was able to travel around the world. This experience as a professional athlete gave him a cultural development that has been a stronghold for him to delve into and understand more deeply the diversity and aspects of migration.
Today, Attorney Joel Orta practices as an immigration lawyer in Houston, Texas, and throughout the United States.
VILMARIE POLANCO, ESQ.
Attorney Vilmarie Polanco is a licensed attorney who earned her Juris Doctor from the School of Law at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and was admitted to practice law by the Honorable Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising, Magna Cum Laude, from the School of Public Communication at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, as well as a Master’s degree in Mediation and Conflict Transformation, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of the Sacred Heart in Santurce, Puerto Rico. As part of her academic development in the field of law, she participated in an international exchange program and completed courses in Comparative Law at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
From 2010 to 2016, Attorney Polanco served as Administrator and Public Relations Coordinator for Haití se Pone de Pie, a nonprofit foundation established by physicians in Puerto Rico. She also held professional positions within the Puerto Rico House of Representatives and subsequently at the Office of the Patient Advocate of Puerto Rico.
With over a decade of professional experience in Public Relations and Advertising, Attorney Polanco has also developed an extensive practice as a Conflict Mediator, successfully facilitating numerous extrajudicial agreements. In addition, she founded a motivational and personal development blog, through which she positively influences and inspires thousands of followers.
Her strong commitment to service and dedication to supporting others have been integral to both her professional and personal growth. At present, Attorney Polanco serves as the managing partner alongside Attorney Joel Orta.
